My first still life collection was on various art supplies. I tried to go for a jumbled, disorganized feel for the first two and an ordered feel for the other two, so that I had some freedom with the filters. I mainly chose art supplies because I enjoy drawing. I feel that this took from the potential of this set, since I was more focused on recording something that was close to me instead of finding a beautiful photo.

My second still-life is on a skeleton I recently 3D printed. I tried to tell a story a lot more than the other photosets by setting my lights to red and green to convey a much more ominous tone. While I did filter most of it out, it still gives the photos an "off" vibe, since the colors aren't natural. While it does correlate to an aesthetic of a creepy mystical feeling I enjoy, I used the skeleton mostly because I usually don't have skeletons laying around, and thought it would make a really neat photo subject.

"Made by pencils, for pencils, with pencils", Jenna Lock-Arnold, iPhone 8 (Pallet Knife), 2020
My third still-life is on some colored pencils. Like the art supplies set, I chose this to represent how I enjoy art. However, I also chose this since I thought the repetition of shape and contrast of color of many colored pencils would make a really neat photoset. I feel that this helped alleviate from the pitfall of the first photoset, since there was still a focus on the aesthetic of the photos.
My fourth still-life is on fruit. While I could say I chose this because at the time of writing, I am currently working on eating healthier, I really chose this because I wanted to take the concept of fruit still life and try something interesting with it.

My final still life was focused on nails. This does have a small connection to my interest in the engineering field and making things. However, I mainly chose this because the time I had allotted to work on getting photos was coming to a close, and one of my subject ideas had fallen through. I found a jar of nails and screws in the room and decided to use those. I feel that this actually helped me with this project, since I had to think on my feet and find interesting ways to take photos of unusual objects, instead of relying on finding the best object for the photo. Combined with the fact that this was the last set of photos I took that day, I feel I really got some creative photos.
